Need a donate button so you can receive some funds? You have several great solutions:
1 - The standard solution is to include a PayPal donate button.
This is a quick and easy solution however it's important to note that this is JUST a button.
It has not been optimized to increase your CHANCES of a donation and there is not much you can tailor.
Whether you use this or not will depend on how much control you want over the donation process.
2 - Create a fundraiser (timed or un-timed) on Go Get Funding & use the widget.
Once it's live, use the 'embed code' feature to embed the fundraiser widget on your site.
This option gives you much more control of your fundraiser. It gives people a monetary target (if you set that option), it gives donors automatic recognition for donations, it recognises social media shares of your fundraiser, you can include several pictures or a video and more.
However, this option takes a little more time than the PayPal donate button. Although if you really think you will get people donating, this extra investment in time is likely to pay-off through more donations.
3 - Create a donation button via another payment provider.
Although PayPal is the most popular, not every country supports it. Thankfully, other payment providers such as Authorize.net also allow you to easily create a simple, no-fuss donate button.
4 - Get non-cash donations.
A growing trend that I've seen is people linking to an Amazon wishlist or other products they want and then asking others to buy it intead of a cash donation. Not for everyone, I know, but it's an option.
