My top two solutions for those that want to accept donations online are:
1. Go Get Funding
Fundraising website Go Get Funding lets your raise money for anything you want. It's an easy to use site and the crowdfunding nature of the platform means you might also get donations from strangers (although don't just rely on that - remember that exposure on the site increases once you have your own donations).
They have a great range of features (and the ability to hide your fundraiser for those who are concerned about privacy) and fees are lower than all other comparative sites. Unlike other crowdfunding sites, you keep all the money you raise even if you don't hit your target.
If you your fundraising needs are pretty simple, you could just use the Chipin widget. It's easy to set up and you can embed it just about anywhere.
Although it looks a little dated, it does the job. Beware that those who donate to you will see your PayPal email address when completing checkout - not a major issue if your not too concerned about privacy but just something to be aware of.
